A concerned indigene of Benue State, Mr. Richard Abomtse, has penned an open letter calling on Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, to urgently intervene and facilitate United States entry for Emmanuel Myam, widely known as Real-Emmiwuks, who is currently cycling from Nigeria to America on a humanitarian mission.
The letter praises Emmiwuks’ journey as a selfless campaign aimed at highlighting the plight of displaced children and orphans in Benue State, Nigeria, and across Africa. It highlights how the adventure has attracted widespread media attention and is being celebrated globally as an extraordinary act of service to humanity, while also presenting a unique opportunity to showcase Benue and Nigeria positively on the international stage.
Abomtse commended the initiative for aligning with humanitarian values and fostering goodwill between Nigeria and the United States, especially during a sensitive diplomatic period.
However, the appeal expressed serious concern over the recent partial visa restrictions imposed by the United States on Nigerians, particularly affecting B1/B2 categories. Real-Emmiwuks, it was disclosed, has applied under this category and is scheduled for a visa interview on January 26, 2026.
The writer urged Governor Alia and Senator Akume to leverage their strategic positions within the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration to secure a presidential introduction, recommendation, or any appropriate high-level intervention that could smooth the cyclist’s entry into the United States.
Abomtse also acknowledged the support already shown by other prominent Benue leaders, including Barrister Pius Akutah Gbongbon and Hon. Dickson Tarkighir, and encouraged continued backing from the state’s political class.
He concluded with a passionate call for swift action, stressing that time is of the essence, while offering prayers for divine wisdom and strength for Nigeria’s leaders in addressing national challenges.
The open letter has sparked conversations within Benue circles, with many viewing Emmiwuks’ mission as a source of pride and hoping for successful governmental support to ensure its completion.
