In a heartwarming show of solidarity and appreciation, the national leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) paid a surprise courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director of Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Dr. Stephen Terungwa Hwande, this afternoon.
The students, led by top national officers, stormed the CMD’s office to personally congratulate and identify with the medical icon for what they described as “the revolutionary work he is doing in turning BSUTH into one of the most organized and functional tertiary hospitals in Nigeria.”
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, a NANS official said the visit was necessary to let Dr. Hwande know that Nigerian students are proudly watching and celebrating his giant strides. “If the CMD can take such excellent care of this hospital and put everything in perfect order, we are confident he can take 100% care of Zone B,” the students declared in a statement that drew laughter and applause in the conference room.
In his response, a visibly elated Dr. Hwande welcomed the students warmly, thanking them for the rare gesture of recognition. He urged them to remain prayerful for Benue State and Nigeria at large, especially in these trying times, stressing that the country needs divine intervention and unity now more than ever. “Stay united, stay focused, and keep praying for our dear country,” he charged the young leaders.
The atmosphere was electric with goodwill; smiles beamed across every face as the students and hospital management team exchanged pleasantries and took photographs. Many described the moment as beautiful and uplifting.
The visit has further cemented Dr. Hwande’s growing reputation as not just an administrator but a leader who inspires hope and confidence across generations. From medical staff to students and the wider public, the message is the same: something remarkably positive is happening at BSUTH under his watch.
When leaders are celebrated while still in service, you know the work is real. Dr. Stephen Terungwa Hwande is clearly writing his name in gold, one transformed ward and one grateful visitor at a time.
