Renowned musician, humanitarian and Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Entertainment and Community Outreach, Mr. Innocent Uja Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has pledged support for the Benue State University Teaching Hospital’s health initiatives and community outreach programmes.
The pledge was made on Thursday during a working visit to BSUTH, Makurdi, where 2Baba met with the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Terungwa Stephen Hmande, and members of the hospital’s top management team to discuss possible areas of collaboration.
Welcoming the music icon, Dr. Hmande described 2Baba as a legendary entertainer whose outstanding career has positively influenced millions of Nigerians, particularly the people of Benue State, through music, humanitarian service and advocacy. The Chief Medical Director said 2Baba’s appointment would further promote entertainment, stimulate economic growth and boost tourism in Benue State. He regretted the poor patronage of Nigeria’s entertainment industry despite its enormous potential for national development.
Responding, 2Baba commended BSUTH for its remarkable achievements in specialised healthcare, research and patient care. He said the visit provided an opportunity to assess legacy projects initiated by the Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, that directly benefit the people.
He expressed readiness to partner with the hospital in expanding health education, advocacy campaigns and medical outreach programmes aimed at improving access to quality healthcare for vulnerable communities across Benue State. According to the entertainer, stronger partnerships between public institutions and stakeholders will help deliver health information and essential services to more people. He affirmed that his team is committed to supporting initiatives that enhance the well-being of residents.
Also present during the visit was Mr. Orduen Ikonn, popularly known as OdWoods, alongside other stakeholders, as discussions centred on building sustainable partnerships to strengthen community health interventions and improve healthcare outcomes across Benue State.
