In a significant breakthrough against human trafficking, authorities in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State have arrested a woman identified as Madam Agatha, accused of orchestrating a network that preyed on underage girls. The arrest, which took place on November 15, 2025, at the Dooden Agber compound in Nyamatsor Mbaazagee, Mbagen, Buruku, has sent shockwaves through the community and reinforced the state’s zero-tolerance stance on child exploitation.

Local sources allege that Agatha specialized in trafficking virgin girls to Abuja, where they were reportedly handed over to wealthy clients for exploitation, while others were sent across the border to Togo for sex work. Her latest operation was thwarted when she allegedly photographed minors and forwarded their images to an associate in Togo for approval, a move that exposed her activities and led to her immediate apprehension.

Agatha is currently in police custody in Buruku and is expected to be transferred to the Benue State Police Command in Makurdi. There is a strong possibility that the case will be handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further investigation and prosecution.

Community leaders have hailed the arrest as a powerful deterrent, warning that Benue will not tolerate human exploitation in any form. They urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, emphasizing that the safety and future of the state’s children must be protected at all costs.
