In his post, Aondover described the heartbreak of dealing with multiple cases in quick succession. Just as discussions around one abandoned infant were ongoing, another shocking discovery emerged. Only yesterday, he discharged a baby girl who had been abandoned just two days earlier. While that case was still fresh, reports came in of a baby boy found by farmers behind the Federal Polytechnic Wannune.
“The baby boy was picked up again by farmers behind Federal Polytechnic Wannune yesterday,” Aondover wrote, noting that the infant remains under care at the local hospital. Authorities, including the police, were involved in bringing the child in, but questions linger about his future. “I am yet to find out if the people who brought him together with the police want to take care of him or we will hand him over to the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Gboko,” he added.
The repeated incidents have left community members and caregivers at a loss. Aondover voiced his uncertainty about how to address the women involved: “I don’t know what to tell these ladies again. Small Wannune like this?????”
