Passengers Raise Alarm as Benue Links Driver Allegedly Overloads Bus, Assaults Commuters

Passengers of a Benue Links bus (Plate No: PP-945) are sounding the alarm, claiming their lives are at serious risk due to the driver’s reckless actions. The incident, reported today at 1:20 PM, has left commuters in distress and pleading for urgent intervention.

According to distressed passengers, they paid ₦22,000 each for a trip from Ibadan. However, instead of departing, the driver allegedly kept roaming the city, stopping roadside to pick up extra passengers and overload the bus with goods. The vehicle is now dangerously cramped, with four passengers squeezed per seat instead of three, and heavily laden with additional cargo.

Tensions escalated when passengers protested the unsafe conditions. The driver reportedly responded by insulting everyone on board and going as far as slapping three passengers, daring them to “go and report to the President if they liked.”
