Boy Who Showed Up Alone on First Day Receives Cash Support in Benue State

In a heartwarming display of dedication, a young boy in Benue State has been rewarded for his commitment to education. On September 8, 2025, Nicodemus Iorcher, a newly appointed teacher with the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), began his duties at LGEA Primary School Tse-Ikyor in Guma Local Government Area. To his surprise, only one pupil turned up on his first day—a young boy in uniform who sat alone as the sole learner.

Moved by the boy’s determination, Teacher Nicodemus snapped a photo of the moment and shared it online. The post quickly caught the attention of Iho Terence, who was inspired by the child’s dedication. In a generous act of support, Terence gifted the boy ₦10,000 to encourage his pursuit of education.
