A 17-year-old boy identified as Sesugh has allegedly lost his life in a tragic incident involving operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Benue State Zonal Command.
Reports claim that Sesugh and a friend had escaped from EFCC custody after a raid in their area where several people were arrested. While hiding in a settlement called Gberindyer in Makurdi, the teenagers were reportedly traced by EFCC operatives.
Eyewitnesses allege that upon sighting the operatives, Sesugh attempted to flee and was shot in the leg. He was allegedly shot again in the chest. Community members who gathered insisted on carrying his body, but operatives reportedly took it away. The body was later said to have been moved to the Police State Command clinic.
As of the time of filing this report, the deceased’s family is yet to be granted access to view their son. The general public is now awaiting an official statement from the EFCC Zonal Command in Makurdi for clarification on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
