Igede Youth Emmanuel Ochi Otumala Bags First Class from University of Ibadan and Nigerian Law School

Emmanuel Qchi Otumala, a young man from the Igede ethnic group in Benue State, has recorded a remarkable academic feat by graduating with First Class honours from both the University of Ibadan (UI) and the Nigerian Law School.

Otumala finished his Law degree at the University of Ibadan with a First Class and served as the Chief Justice of the Faculty of Law. He has now capped his impressive undergraduate performance by also bagging a First Class from the Nigerian Law School, placing him in the top 2.8% of over 7,600 students who participated in the 2025 Bar Finals Examination.

His outstanding achievements extend beyond academics. Among his notable accomplishments are:

– Winner of a national essay competition
– Winner, Davidson Oturu Law School Scholarship Programme

– Winner, Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) Scholarship
– Winner, Mac Pepple T. Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship
– Winner, Zeribe Nwosu Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship
– Scholar, Young Talents Programme, Lagos Business School, Nigeria
– Authored several legal articles and publications
– Held over 15 leadership positions as an undergraduate at the University of Ibadan
