Aides of Hon. Philip Agbese, the member representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, have resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), raising fresh speculation about the lawmaker’s political future.
A viral post shared on social media by political observers showed resignation letters submitted by some of the aides, including one from Hon. Ochonma Williams Ohefia, dated March 16, 2026. The letters cited “deliberate and evolving political considerations” and “personal convictions” as reasons for leaving the party with immediate effect.
The resignations come ahead of any formal announcement from Hon. Agbese himself, leading many to interpret the move as a signal of an impending shift in political alignment for the federal lawmaker. Political watchers in Benue South have noted that such coordinated exits by key aides often precede a principal’s defection or realignment with another party.
The affected aides were drawn from various wards in the constituency, including Itabono Ward 1 in Ogbadibo Local Government Area. In their letters, they expressed appreciation for past opportunities within the APC while reaffirming commitment to democratic ideals and the advancement of their communities.
No official statement has been issued by Hon. Agbese or his media team regarding the development at the time of this report. However, the resignations have sparked widespread discussions across political circles in Benue, with some describing it as an early indication of shifting loyalties ahead of future elections.
The APC in Benue has yet to react publicly to the development, which could signal deeper internal dynamics within the party in the State.
