A health worker identified as Ojama Emie has been killed in a suspected herdsmen ambush along the Ikobi-Ugbokpo road in Ikobi community, Benue State.
According to reports by Idoma Television, the victim was ambushed and killed this morning. His attackers allegedly fled with his head after the brutal assault, leaving his lifeless body at the scene.
Community leaders and residents have expressed deep concern over the incident, noting that the route has become a recurring ambush point for suspected herdsmen. “We are deeply worried that this particular route has become a recurring ambush point for suspected herdsmen. Our people can no longer travel freely on roads within their own communities,” a source was quoted as saying.
The killing has heightened fears of insecurity in the Idoma land, with many describing the area as being under siege. This latest attack adds to the growing list of violent incidents targeting residents in parts of Benue State. Security agencies are yet to issue an official statement on the incident as investigations are expected to commence.
