The recent fire incident at St. Winifred Girls Secondary School, Ihugh, has displaced many students, forcing school authorities to implement temporary relocation arrangements to ensure uninterrupted academic activities.
Following a joint Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) meeting held at St. James Parish, Yandev, the school management announced the following measures:
Senior Secondary School One (SSS 1) students have been directed to resume at Queen of the Rosary Secondary School, Gboko, while Basic 8 (JSS 2) students will continue their studies at St. Mary Girls’ Secondary School, Adikpo. Basic 7 (JSS 1) students are to remain temporarily at St. Winifred Girls Secondary School, Ihugh, under the care of their school mothers.
The school management has assured parents and the public that adequate measures have been put in place to guarantee the safety and welfare of the students in their new locations. They emphasized that the arrangement is temporary and will last only until the reconstruction of the burnt hostels is completed.
The authorities expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the unfortunate incident and appealed for patience and understanding from parents, alumni, benefactors, and well-wishers as efforts are made to restore normalcy. The school community remains hopeful that reconstruction will be completed quickly to allow the students to reunite in their original environment.
