The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Patrick Moro, has called on voters in the zone—also known as Zone C—to reject Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia in the 2027 governorship election, accusing the current administration of failing to give adequate attention to the interests of the Idoma people.

Senator Moro made the remarks during a well-attended political gathering at the Upu Open Field in Ewulo, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State. The event drew a large crowd from the nine local government areas of Benue South and witnessed the defection of supporters from the All Progressives Congress (APC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Labour Party (LP), and other political groups into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Addressing the audience, Moro alleged that the Alia-led administration has neglected Zone C, stating: “This governor hates Zone C, and I will continue to campaign against him until we vote him out.” He further urged residents not to repeat what he described as the mistake of the previous election, when many supported Alia believing he was “a man of God.”

“If you are truly Idoma people, please do not vote for Alia in 2027. People voted for him in the last election because they believed he was a man of God, but today he has failed us in Benue State,” Moro declared.

The senator’s strong statements reflect growing political mobilization in Benue South ahead of the 2027 general elections. Political observers noted that the massive turnout at the event signals increasing activity and realignment in the zone as parties intensify early efforts to consolidate support.
