Gov. Alia, Dr. Hwande Drive BSUTH Cares Initiative as 300 Amputees to Receive Free Limb Support

The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, and the Chief Medical Director of Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Terungwa Stephen Hwande, have been credited with initiating a humanitarian programme to provide free artificial limbs to amputees across the state.

The BSUTH Cares Foundation, in collaboration with the Benue Bureau for International Cooperation and Development and the Ishk Tolaram Foundation, Lagos, is set to distribute 300 free artificial limbs to indigene amputees as part of the intervention.

The measurement exercise will hold at the BSUTH Conference Room from Tuesday, 21st April to Friday, 24th April, 2026, between 9:00am and 4:00pm daily, with organisers describing the programme as a life-changing effort to restore hope, independence, and dignity among beneficiaries.

Those who have already registered with the BSUTH Cares Foundation are urged to present themselves for the scheduled measurement exercise, aimed at ensuring proper fitting and improved mobility for beneficiaries. Members of the public are also encouraged to inform anyone they know who has registered to participate in the exercise.
