The Action Democratic Congress (ADC) in Benue State is under intense pressure to cancel its recently conducted gubernatorial primary following serious allegations of irregularities.
Peter Adejoh and Joseph Waya, who participated in the primary exercise, have petitioned the national leadership of the party, challenging the process that produced Herman Hembe as the candidate. The petitioners allege widespread irregularities and have called for the outright cancellation of the primary and a fresh exercise.
In his petition, Peter Adejoh urged the national leadership to thoroughly investigate the complaints raised by aspirants and stakeholders in order to safeguard the credibility of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. The development has sparked growing tension within the Benue chapter of the ADC as aggrieved members demand transparency and fairness in the nomination process.
The controversy comes as the party positions itself for the next electoral cycle, with calls for the national leadership to intervene swiftly to resolve the internal crisis.
