The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has taken a significant step toward the 2027 general elections with the inauguration of 5,102 coordinators for the Vanen Hen Alia Project 2027 across the state’s 23 local government areas.
Chief Dr. Benjamin Omale, the Benue State APC Chairman, performed the inauguration on Tuesday in Makurdi, describing the initiative as a major boost to grassroots mobilisation. He charged the coordinators to work harmoniously with existing party structures at state, local government, and ward levels to strengthen the APC’s presence and deliver electoral success for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Hyacinth Alia, and other APC candidates in 2027.
The project, convened by Mrs. Vanen Mary Gbendyer, is designed as a support group to complement ongoing mobilisation efforts rather than rival existing structures. Mrs. Gbendyer emphasised that the movement is founded on principles of collaboration, reconciliation, and consolidation, with the goal of sustaining political stability and advancing Governor Alia’s development agenda.
Dr. Omale commended Mrs. Gbendyer for establishing a well-organised support structure dedicated to Governor Alia’s administration and re-election bid. He also praised the massive turnout of coordinators, which he said demonstrated genuine commitment to the party and the governor’s leadership.
Declaring the event open, the Patron of the project, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, expressed appreciation to party leaders and stakeholders for their support. He particularly acknowledged Chief Omale and State APC Publicity Secretary, Hon. Sawuan Benedict Yawe, for their commitment to the initiative.
Mrs. Gbendyer highlighted the notable achievements of Governor Alia’s first term in infrastructure, human capital development, and governance reforms, noting that a second term would provide an opportunity to consolidate these gains. She urged the coordinators to intensify mobilisation at local government, ward, and polling unit levels while promoting the administration’s achievements.
The colourful event attracted APC stakeholders, government officials, elected representatives, and supporters from across Benue State, featuring cultural displays and solidarity performances by various pro-Alia groups, including the APC Muslim Community, Kunav Adorable Sisters, and Idoma Sisters for Alia/Odeh 2027.
The Vanen Hen Alia Project is expected to play a key role in consolidating support for the APC ahead of the 2027 polls.
