A high-level delegation from First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Makurdi Branch, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Reverend Father Moses Orshio Adasu University, Professor Timothy Terseer Alabar, on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room in Makurdi.
Led by the Business Manager, Mr. Jacob Tagher, the bank team used the occasion to reinforce existing ties and explore potential areas of strategic partnership between the financial institution and the state-owned university.
During the meeting, Mr. Tagher highlighted First Bank’s extensive portfolio of innovative financial products and digital banking solutions designed to meet the needs of both institutional clients and individual customers. He emphasized the bank’s commitment to supporting educational institutions through tailored financial services that promote efficiency, inclusion, and growth.
Professor Alabar warmly received the delegation and commended First Bank for its longstanding reputation as one of Nigeria’s most respected and reliable financial institutions. He stressed the importance of robust collaboration between universities and banks, noting that such partnerships are essential for institutional development, staff welfare, and improved service delivery across campus.
The Vice-Chancellor reiterated the university’s openness to initiatives that advance financial inclusion, support research and development, and enhance banking convenience for both staff and students. He expressed optimism that deeper cooperation with First Bank could yield mutual benefits, including staff salary accounts, student-friendly financial products, and potential sponsorship or capacity-building programmes.
The visit underscores growing interest from corporate Nigeria in partnering with tertiary institutions in Benue State, particularly as universities seek sustainable ways to improve campus life and operational efficiency amid economic challenges.
While specific partnership agreements were not announced during the courtesy call, both sides described the engagement as productive and expressed readiness to pursue concrete collaborations in the near future. The meeting reflects the broader push toward stronger academia-industry linkages aimed at driving development and economic empowerment in the region.
