The post noted that farmers’ products are currently “very cheap” in the market, a situation that offers some relief to consumers amid broader economic pressures but raises concerns among producers about profitability. Low farm-gate prices for staples like garri, rice, yam, and groundnut often reflect bumper harvests, transportation challenges, or seasonal oversupply in rural markets across Benue State.

Ihiejwo Market, like many periodic markets in Oju LGA, continues to serve as a critical economic lifeline for local farmers, traders, and households in one of Benue’s food-producing zones. The reported prices come at a time when food inflation remains a national issue, making affordable local produce particularly welcome for residents.

The update concluded with well-wishes for a “happy market day,” underscoring the vibrant community spirit that characterises trading hubs throughout the state. Shoppers are advised to take advantage of current low prices while they last, as market dynamics can shift quickly depending on supply, demand, and external factors.
