An aide to the Executive Chairman of Agatu Local Government has declared that peace is gradually returning to the area after years of fear, displacement and insecurity.
In a statement dated August 12, 2026, Adameh Marvelous Sunday Jr., Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Executive Chairman, recalled that for years Agatu was marked by constant fear and uncertainty. Families were displaced, homes and livelihoods were lost, and the daily experience of many residents was one of pain.
He noted that successive leaders came and went without lasting solutions until the emergence of Hon. Melvin James Ejeh, whom he described as a humanitarian worker and peace mediator. According to the statement, Ejeh campaigned with a commitment to restore peace and stability rather than offer empty promises.
Adameh stated that through purposeful leadership, the chairman has worked to touch lives and rebuild communities. He said residents can now tell their children a different story — that Agatu is better than it was, that growth and progress are returning, and that the land is beginning to revive.
While acknowledging that the area has not yet reached the peak of expectations, he emphasised that it is no longer trapped in the valley of chaos and fear that once defined it. The transformation, he added, is the result of collaborative efforts involving leadership from the President to the Governor and the Executive Chairman of Agatu Local Government.
“Agatu is reviving. Agatu is progressing. Hope is alive again,” the statement concluded.
