Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has kicked off the construction of seven township roads in Gboko as part of his administration’s ongoing drive to upgrade infrastructure and improve ease of movement across the state.
The selected roads are strategically positioned to unlock key commercial and residential zones, providing better access to markets, schools, hospitals, and other essential public facilities. Among the roads earmarked for immediate work are St. John Street linking the main market, Police Field Street connecting the Old NEPA Office Road beside Dunamis Church, Myom Street beside Myom Hospital linking Rice Mill Road, and Tomatar Street, among others.
Actual construction has already commenced on St. John Street, which runs from beside the Benue State Internal Revenue Service office to JS Tarka Road, near the fence of Queen of the Rosary Secondary School.
Local residents have warmly received the initiative, describing it as a timely and much-needed intervention that will enhance mobility, stimulate economic activities, and ease daily commuting challenges in the town. Many see the project as further evidence of the Alia administration’s commitment to grassroots development and tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary citizens.
The road projects in Gboko align with broader infrastructure efforts across Benue State aimed at transforming urban and rural connectivity under Governor Alia’s leadership.
