Kusaki College Yandev-Gboko Suspends Academic Activities After Fire Guts Girls’ Hostel

The Management of Kusaki College Yandev-Gboko has formally informed the public, parents, guardians, students and stakeholders of a fire incident that occurred on its premises on Thursday, 8th October 2026, at about 10:07am.

The inferno completely razed the Girls’ Hostel block, leading to the destruction of students’ personal belongings including mattresses, uniforms, books, provisions and other valuable properties contained in the facility. Management expressed profound gratitude that no life was lost and no injury was recorded, as all students were safely evacuated as soon as the incident was noticed. It thanked staff, students, neighbours, the Fire Service and general sympathizers for their swift response in managing the situation.

Management has commenced a thorough investigation in collaboration with relevant authorities to ascertain the cause of the fire outbreak, stressing that the safety and welfare of students remain paramount and the topmost priority.

Consequently, the school has declared a temporary break from academic activities beginning from Friday, 9th October to Friday, 23rd October 2026. This is to enable proper assessment of the damage, necessary repairs and alternative accommodation arrangements. Academic activities will resume fully on Monday, 26th October 2026.

Parents, guardians, students and the entire school community have been urged to remain calm and law-abiding, while disregarding rumours and speculations about the incident. The school will continue to provide timely updates as the investigation progresses. Management sincerely sympathized with all female students affected by the unfortunate incident and assured them of its full support.

Parents and guardians of the boarding girls have been invited for an emergency meeting scheduled for Saturday, 17th October 2026 at the school premises by 9:00am.
