A weekly contribution group in Y-Junction, Zaki-Biam, Benue State, has been rocked by an alleged scam involving funds meant for Christmas welfare packages. The group, which regularly meets at a palm wine joint opposite Emmalex Filling Station near the Union Office, pooled money from members to purchase festive items including fowls, palm oil, and rice for distribution ahead of the holidays.

Each participant reportedly contributed ₦30,000, with the total funds collected intended to provide these items for all members. While the palm oil and rice were successfully bought and shared among the group, the fowls—supposed to be a key part of the Christmas celebration—were never delivered.

According to reports from the group, a member named Terna Orga, said to hail from Konshisha Local Government Area, was entrusted with ₦355,000 on Tuesday to procure the remaining fowls. Since receiving the money, Orga has allegedly vanished, ceased answering phone calls, and his whereabouts remain unknown, leaving members frustrated and out of pocket.

The incident has dampened the festive spirit for many in the group, who were counting on the fowls to enhance their Christmas celebrations. Members have now issued a public appeal for anyone with information on Terna Orga’s location to come forward, urging him to either return the funds or contact the group immediately to resolve the matter amicably.

They have also warned that failure to do so could lead to reporting the case to relevant authorities for further investigation and action. As of December 29, 2025, the situation remains unresolved, highlighting the risks associated with informal contribution schemes, especially during the holiday season when trust is often placed in community members for shared welfare initiatives.
