Benue Assembly Complex Nears Completion as Speaker Emberga Hails Alia’s Vision for Modern Lawmaking

Lawmakers of the 10th Benue State House of Assembly may soon swap dusty chambers for a sleek, ultra-modern complex, with Speaker Rt. Hon. Berger Alfred Emberga announcing Tuesday that plenary sessions could resume in the fully renovated Assembly building as early as the next legislative sitting.

The revelation came during an on-site inspection of the massive upgrade project, where the Speaker, flanked by principal officers including Majority Leader Hon. Pharm. Sir Thomas Dugeri, Minority Leader Rt. Hon. Abu James Omoru, Chief Whip Hon. Cyril Ikong, and several others, expressed visible satisfaction at the pace and quality of work.

Emberga praised Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia for making the renovation a priority, describing the emerging edifice as a bold statement of the administration’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and creating an enabling environment for effective legislation.

“This is no ordinary facelift,” the Speaker said. “What we are seeing is a complete transformation that will give Benue lawmakers the kind of workspace befitting the seriousness of our mandate.”

From expanded chambers and cutting-edge ICT facilities to enhanced security features and aesthetic redesign, the project, when completed, will rank among the most modern state legislative complexes in the country.

While commending the contractor for the remarkable progress recorded so far, Emberga urged an acceleration of remaining works to ensure timely handover, stressing that lawmakers are eager to occupy the facility and deliver even more people-centered legislation in a conducive atmosphere.

With the Alia administration continuing to channel resources into critical infrastructure across the state, the near-completion of the Assembly Complex has been hailed as another testament to a government walking its talk on institutional renewal and good governance.
