Benue State is marking this year’s World Teachers’ Day with a strong emphasis on elevating the teaching profession. Dr. Grace Adagba, Executive Chairman of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), has reaffirmed the board’s dedication to implementing policies and programs that enhance teaching standards, inspire professional growth, and restore dignity to the profession.
In a goodwill message, Dr. Adagba highlighted the administration’s efforts under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia. Key initiatives include a 75% minimum wage increase for teachers, the construction and renovation of hundreds of classrooms, the recruitment and deployment of over 9,000 qualified teachers, and the revival of sports and craft in schools to promote holistic learning and development. These interventions underscore the government’s resolve to restore hope, dignity, and excellence to teaching.
Dr. Adagba saluted teachers for their patience, dedication, and unshakable commitment to nurturing the next generation, describing them as the heroes and heroines of our time. She encouraged educators to renew their passion and strengthen their resolve as the state works together to advance basic education.
On behalf of SUBEB, Dr. Adagba extended heartfelt felicitations to all teachers in Benue State, Nigeria, and across the world, recognizing their invaluable role in shaping minds and building a prosperous future. The celebration aligns with this year’s theme, “Recasting teaching as a collaborative profession,” and serves as a reminder of teachers’ enduring impact on society.
