Alia Promises Tinubu 620,000 Votes from Benue in 2027

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will receive at least 620,000 votes from Benue State in the 2027 presidential election double the 310,468 votes the president secured in the state during the 2023 election.

Governor Alia made the declaration after a closed-door meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, alongside former Benue Governor, Senator Gabriel Suswam.

According to the governor, the APC is becoming stronger in Benue, especially with Suswam’s move to the ruling party. He also stated that the party would remain united despite disagreements that followed the recent APC primaries.

Alia explained that his meeting with the President was also to brief him on the security situation in Benue, the return of internally displaced persons (IDPs), the ongoing farming season, and developments within the state’s political landscape.

In the 2023 presidential election, Tinubu defeated Peter Obi in Benue by a slim margin of just 2,096 votes, polling 310,468 votes against Obi’s 308,372.
