As Nigeria marked Children’s Day 2026, various communities in Benue State rolled out vibrant celebrations to honour and empower the younger generation.
In Otukpo, Egiija Park ASA 3 hosted a grand celebration that brought together students from various primary and secondary schools across the town. The event featured exciting activities including spelling competitions, dance performances, quizzes, cultural displays, and other entertaining and educational programs that kept the children actively engaged. Parents, teachers, and community members turned out in large numbers, creating an atmosphere of joy, unity, and learning while highlighting the group’s commitment to supporting young people.
In a special gesture of compassion, the Benue State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, under the leadership of Hon. Commissioner Mrs. Theresa Odachi Ikwue, in collaboration with Arm Strong Nation Studio, celebrated with children at an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp. The initiative brought moments of happiness and entertainment to children who have faced significant challenges.
Meanwhile, the Buruku Local Government Council organised a colourful celebration for the Buruku child. In a unique highlight, local government executive powers were ceremonially handed over to 6-year-old Master Dyorough Ka-aondo Kevin for the day.
These celebrations reflect the strong commitment by communities, local governments, and state institutions to nurture, protect, and celebrate children, ensuring they are given opportunities to thrive amid the festive atmosphere of Children’s Day 2026.
