In a significant humanitarian effort, the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), under the directive of the Executive Governor of Benue State, has distributed essential relief materials to internally displaced persons (IDPs) who have returned to their communities in Tatyough Mbagwen, Makurdi Local Government Area. The initiative, led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Sir James Anodoakaa Iorpuu, PhD, aims to support the reintegration of returnees and encourage others still residing in IDP camps.
The relief materials, which include food and non-food items, were distributed to address the challenges faced by returnees and to facilitate their resettlement. This intervention is part of a broader strategy to ease the transition for those returning home and to inspire confidence among those yet to leave the camps.
In a gesture of appreciation, relief materials were also extended to security personnel stationed in the affected communities. This recognition highlights their tireless efforts in maintaining peace and security in the area, ensuring a safe environment for the returnees.
The distribution event underscores the state government’s commitment to supporting its citizens during challenging times and fostering stability in the region. For more updates, follow Benue info-pedia.
