Four Farmers Killed in Fresh Ambush Along Odugbeho-Aila Road in Agatu, Benue State

Tragedy has struck again in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State as four farmers were reportedly killed in a suspected ambush on Sunday, 3rd May 2026.

According to a report by BENUE info-pedia, the victims were attacked while returning from their farms along the Odugbeho–Aila Road. The deceased have been identified as Ochefije Elijah Ojema, Igojuju Husaini, Odiya Ochowechi, and Ochoyoda Adejo.

Local sources say the incident has heightened fear and tension in the area, which has unfortunately become known for repeated violent clashes, many of them linked to long-standing farmer-herder conflicts. Residents described the attack as sudden, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

Agatu and surrounding areas have witnessed several security challenges over the years, resulting in loss of lives, injuries, and displacement of residents.
