A verified human rights activist, Ukan Kurugh, has drawn public attention to alleged widespread misconduct by police officers against the people of Logo Local Government Area in Benue State.
In a strongly worded Facebook post, Ukan Kurugh tagged the Nigeria Police Force Benue State Police Command in Makurdi, Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, and other top officials. He claimed that residents of Logo LGA endure daily harassment and extortion at the hands of policemen.
The activist specifically called out the Commissioner of Police, CP Emenari, urging him not to wait for a formal petition before taking action. He stated that the evidence of misconduct is clear and urged the CP to have the post translated into the Tiv language for better understanding, describing the situation as “gross misconduct taken too far.”
Ukan Kurugh, who is known for consistently exposing alleged cases of police brutality, extortion, and corruption in Benue State, appealed to the public to share the message widely across all platforms.
The post includes a short video clip showing some individuals outdoors, presumably related to the incident or situation being reported.
This latest allegation adds to previous complaints raised by the activist regarding police activities in different parts of Benue State. Logo LGA, like many other areas in the state, has faced serious security challenges, including farmer-herder clashes, but residents now appear to be grappling with additional issues of alleged police harassment on a daily basis.
As of the time of the post, there has been no official response from the Benue State Police Command to these specific claims. Such public calls often pressure security authorities to investigate and address reported cases of misconduct within the force.
