Tor Sankera David Sevav Urges Federal and State Governments to Prosecute Attackers of St. Paul’s Parish, Aye-Twar

The Paramount Ruler of Sankera, His Royal Highness Tor Sankera, David Sevav, has called on the Federal and Benue State Governments to ensure that the perpetrators of the recent burning of St. Paul’s Parish in Aye-Twar are brought to justice.

HRH Sevav made the strong appeal during a solidarity visit to the Catholic Bishop of Katsina-Ala Diocese, Most Rev. Isaac Dugu, following the destruction of the parish by suspected armed Fulani militia. He was accompanied by the Sankera Traditional Council, Hon. Prince Solomon Wombo, members of the Benue State House of Assembly, chairmen of Katsina-Ala, Ukum, and Logo LGAs, and other stakeholders.

Describing the attack as a desecration of a sacred space and an affront to humanity, the Tor Sankera condemned the violence and stressed the need for urgent government intervention to restore safety and security in the area. He appealed to the state government to rebuild the destroyed parish and strengthen security to allow displaced residents to return home.

The royal father also commended Bishop Dugu for his peacebuilding efforts and encouraged him not to lose hope.

In response, Bishop Dugu thanked the Tor Sankera and his delegation for their support and solidarity, reaffirming his commitment to peace in Sankera despite recurring security challenges.

  • Generalization does not always follow a straight line. Such wide and wild accusations are inflammatory and must be avoided.
