Tiv Community Vigilantes Confront Suspected Attackers in Benue-Taraba Border Area

Tiv community vigilantes have reportedly confronted suspected attackers following renewed tensions in a border area, with local sources identifying three individuals allegedly linked to the incident.

The confrontation comes amid recurring security concerns in communities around the Benue-Taraba border, where residents have frequently reported attacks and clashes.

According to community sources, the individuals named as suspected attackers include Kwai Ezekiel from Mararaba (Ichen), Aboyi Kulungu from Nyifu (Ichen), and Steven Daniel from Nyifu (Ichen). Residents claimed the suspects are believed to be from Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.

A community source alleged that the attackers were “not Fulani as widely claimed, but Jukun operating under that identity.”

The incident has heightened fears in the border communities, where clashes between different ethnic groups have been a recurring challenge. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the claims as investigations continue.
