The Chairman of Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State, Hon. (Amb.) Melvin James Ejeh, has assured the newly posted Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Agada Eneojo, of the council’s full support in the fight against crime and the maintenance of peace in the area. The assurance was given on Monday, August 10, 2026, when the Chairman received the new DPO, who paid a courtesy visit to his office at the council secretariat in Obagaji.
Ejeh said the council had maintained a cordial relationship with security agencies, noting that the partnership had contributed to the protection of lives and property. He described the security and welfare of the people as a priority of his administration, stressing that development could not thrive without peace. “For us as a government, our primary responsibility is the security and welfare of our people because without security, there can be no meaningful development. We appreciate the Nigeria Police and other security agencies for their commitment and sacrifices in protecting lives and property,” he stated.
Congratulating Eneojo on his posting to Agatu, the Chairman said he was ready to work with him, adding that this was the approach the council had always taken with other security agencies. He expressed optimism for a continuous and symbiotic relationship with the leadership of the Nigeria Police as they continue to serve the people of Agatu.
Speaking earlier, DPO Eneojo appreciated the Chairman for his support for security agencies in the council and affirmed his commitment to collaborating with other security agencies to ensure that peace and security are maintained in the area.
