Security Checkpoints Withdrawn Along Agatu-Apa-Otukpo Corridor, Raising Fears of Renewed Violence in Benue State

Communities in Otukpo, Agatu, and Apa Local Government Areas of Benue State are facing a heightened risk of violence following the sudden withdrawal of several security checkpoints along the Agatu-Apa-Otukpo corridor.

Before the incident, there were seven active checkpoints between Agatu and Otukpo, but only two remain operational today. Mobile Police officers previously stationed at volatile flashpoints such as Ataganyi, Oweto, Ikobi, and Ikor have reportedly abandoned their posts or been withdrawn.
