A social media post has drawn public attention to an alleged incident at Benue Link Park in Iddo, Lagos, where a man identified as Alhaji Abdul Umar was reportedly found with a 16-year-old girl from Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to the post by Zege’Orkwande Sughnen Yaaya, the incident occurred on the previous day, prompting some Benue youths working at the park to intervene. The post claims the youths collected the sum of ₦120,000 from the man before releasing him, with one individual referred to as Dagreen.h described as the chief connector at the park.
The author tagged relevant authorities, including the Benue State Government and the Benue State Police Command in Makurdi, calling for their intervention in the matter. A photograph purportedly showing the minor was attached to the post.
This development has sparked concerns over the safety and protection of young girls from Benue State, particularly those in vulnerable situations far from home. While details remain unconfirmed by official sources, the allegation has generated calls for thorough investigation into possible child exploitation or related offences at the location.
Authorities in both Lagos and Benue States are yet to issue statements regarding the claims. Such incidents often highlight broader challenges of human trafficking, child protection, and the need for stronger oversight at transport hubs and public spaces. Further updates are expected as security agencies look into the matter.
