Anti-human trafficking advocate Zege’Orkwande Sughnen Yaaya has shared a video of Joy, a woman from Konshisha, publicly apologizing for her involvement in human trafficking.
In the video, Joy expresses remorse for trafficking five girls from Benue State (Konshisha and Vandeikya) to Libya last year for prostitution. Yaaya posted the apology, stating that he wants the matter to start from this point of accountability.
This development comes after Yaaya had previously arrested Joy’s mother for conspiracy in the trafficking case. The mother was later pardoned following appeals for forgiveness. Some of the rescued victims are still awaiting repatriation from Libya.
Yaaya’s post has generated significant attention, with many residents reacting to the apology as part of ongoing efforts to address human trafficking in the state.
