A dangerously tilted electricity pole at Cornerstone Street in Gyado Villa, Makurdi, has sparked urgent concern among residents, who fear it could fall and cause serious harm or loss of life.
The alarming situation was highlighted in a social media post by Òr Turan, who drew the attention of Jos Disco (Jos Electricity Distribution Company) to the precarious pole. The post questioned how long the pole must remain in such a hazardous condition before urgent action is taken.
Photographs accompanying the post show the wooden pole leaning sharply at an acute angle, supported only by overhead wires, directly above a busy residential street with houses, shops, and pedestrians in the vicinity.
Residents have called on the electricity distribution company to immediately intervene and replace or properly secure the pole to prevent a potential disaster in the area.
This incident highlights ongoing infrastructure challenges in parts of Makurdi, where aging electricity poles continue to pose safety risks to communities.
