For over fourteen years, the people of Tombo Council Ward in Logo Local Government Area have known little peace. But the early hours of today brought a new, disturbing chapter to this long-running tragedy.

Dr. Terris Damsa Gmf, an aspirant for the Katsina-Ala/Ukum/Logo Federal Constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party and a native of the affected community, has broken his silence. In a strongly worded statement, he condemns the latest wave of attacks that have left lives lost, property destroyed, and an already battered community gasping for safety.

According to Dr. Damsa, the persistence and coordination of these assaults point to a rapidly deteriorating security situation not just in Tombo, but across Logo, Sankera, and the entire state. While acknowledging the efforts of security personnel on the ground, he insists that the current response is not enough. These incidents demand urgent and decisive intervention.

The numbers paint a grim picture. Tombo Ward is the largest council ward in Logo LGA with 27 polling units. Today, that vast landscape has been reduced to just one functioning settlement which currently serves as a refuge for internally displaced persons. It is both alarming and heartbreaking that even this final safe haven is now under direct threat.

For over a decade, the people of this community have endured forced displacement from ancestral lands, denial of basic amenities, and repeated severe threats to their safety.

Dr. Damsa does not speak as a distant politician. As a native of the affected community, he shares deeply in the pain, loss, and suffering of his people. He is now calling on the Federal Government, the Benue State Government, and all relevant security agencies to take immediate, firm, and coordinated action to protect lives and property, restore lasting peace, and create the necessary conditions for the safe return of displaced persons to their homes across Sankera and the entire state.

The State Government must urgently implement a comprehensive and sustainable security strategy capable of bringing this prolonged crisis to an end and restoring normalcy to affected communities.

Dr. Damsa reassures the people of Sankera that their safety, dignity, and right to live peacefully on their ancestral lands remain non-negotiable, and he will continue to advocate tirelessly for the same especially at the National Assembly post-2027. We must restore peace within our walls and prosperity within our borders.
