Hon. Ityav Akume Raphael, Senior Special Assistant to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia on Media (Judicial), has publicly expressed frustration following a motor accident involving a vehicle gifted to him by the ALGON Benue State chapter.
In a detailed Facebook post, Raphael recounted that the accident occurred on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, opposite Nze Oil before the Food Domain in Makurdi. He stated that a motorcycle rider collided with his car, claiming the rider mistakenly thought he was turning. The rider was not seriously injured, but the female passenger sustained injuries and was taken to the Teaching Hospital for treatment at Raphael’s expense.
The vehicle at the centre of the controversy was presented to him by ALGON Benue State, then headed by Maurice Orwough. Raphael lamented that the car remains unpaid for, despite the presentation, and will mark one year in his possession on June 12, 2026. He alleged that the dealer has been harassing him relentlessly, even threatening to repossess the vehicle, despite receipts issued and interventions by ALGON leadership and Hon. Gabriel Shange, who witnessed an earlier encounter.
Raphael noted that he had engaged the current ALGON chairman at the Government House in Makurdi on the matter, providing pictorial and video evidence of the car presentation. He described the situation as deeply unfair, questioning the treatment he is receiving after serving the Alia administration.
The story has gained attention on social media, with some users framing it as a case of ingratitude or poor reward for loyalty and hard work. As of now, there has been no official comment from the Benue State Government or ALGON on the matter.
