The Executive Chairman of Guma Local Government Area, Hon. Maurice Orwough, has announced the arrest of several suspected bandits and kidnappers allegedly terrorizing communities in the local government.

According to a post shared by activist D’nkaked Elder Sughnnen Yaaya, the suspects were apprehended through coordinated local security efforts and promptly handed over to relevant security agencies for further investigation and prosecution.

Photographs circulating online show two of the arrested individuals in custody, though their identities and specific roles in the alleged crimes have not been officially confirmed by authorities.

The activist questioned the decision to hand over the suspects—whom he described as “Fulani terrorists and kidnappers”—to security agencies instead of what he termed “immediate kpai” (execution), expressing frustration over repeated cycles of arrests and alleged releases in similar cases across the region.

While the chairman’s office has not yet issued a detailed public statement on the arrests, the development is seen as part of ongoing local-level initiatives to confront rising insecurity in Guma, including cattle rustling, armed banditry, and kidnapping incidents that have disrupted farming activities and communal peace.

Security agencies in Benue have not confirmed receipt of the suspects or provided updates on their status. Residents and community leaders continue to call for decisive action and sustained collaboration between local authorities, traditional rulers, and formal security outfits to restore lasting peace in the area.
