Agatu LGC Chairman Congratulates Hon. Emberga on Emergence as Speaker of BSHA

The Chairman of Agatu Local Government Council, Hon. (Amb) James Melvin Ejeh, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Berger A. Berger Alfred Emberga, the member representing Makurdi North State Constituency, on his election as the Speaker of the 10th Benue State House of Assembly (BSHA).

Hon. Ejeh described Hon. Emberga’s emergence as evidence of his unwavering dedication, leadership qualities, and commitment to the democratic ideals that drive legislative governance. “I wholeheartedly congratulate Hon. Berger Alfred Emberga on his well-deserved emergence as the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly. This accomplishment is a reflection of the confidence and trust his colleagues have in his ability to steer the Assembly toward progress and inclusiveness,” Hon. Ejeh said.

The Agatu chairman commended Hon. Emberga’s resilience, citing his ability to rise above challenges in recent weeks, including his reinstatement and subsequent election as Speaker. He expressed optimism that under Emberga’s leadership, the Assembly would foster unity and enact impactful legislation that benefits the people of Benue State.

“Hon. Emberga’s leadership comes at a critical time when the Assembly is navigating complex political dynamics. I am confident that his tenure will bring stability, fairness, and constructive engagement among lawmakers. I urge him to uphold the principles of inclusiveness and transparency in all legislative processes,” Hon. Ejeh added.

Hon. Ejeh further emphasized the importance of synergy between the legislature, executive, and judiciary in advancing the state’s development agenda. He pledged his full support to the new Speaker and the Benue Assembly, stating that Agatu Local Government Council remains committed to partnering with the Assembly to deliver democratic dividends to the people.

The chairman also applauded the former Speaker, Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, for his contributions to the progress of the Assembly and wished him success in his continued legislative duties. “On behalf of the Agatu Local Government Council and the people of Agatu, I extend my warmest congratulations to Hon. Berger A. Emberga and wish him a successful tenure as Speaker,” the statement concluded.

Hon. Emberga was elected as the new Speaker on Sunday, August 24, 2025, during an emergency sitting following the voluntary resignation of Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh.
