Hon. Stephen Uta Aondona Withdraws from Benue North East Senatorial Race

Hon. Stephen Uta Aondona, Executive Secretary of the Bureau for Mines and Solid Minerals in Benue State, has withdrawn his aspiration for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Benue North East (Zone A) Senatorial District.

In a detailed statement released on social media, Hon. Aondona cited wide-ranging consultations and the counsel of key stakeholders, including his principal, as the reason for stepping down. He emphasized that the decision was taken in the interest of peace, unity, and strategic political cohesion within the APC and the state.

While acknowledging the legitimate aspirations of the Kwande people for equitable political representation at the senatorial level after years of sacrifices for the state and the party, Aondona noted that he is deferring his ambition at this time. He however reaffirmed his commitment to the progress of Kwande, Zone A, and Benue State at large.

The withdrawal comes as the APC continues its primaries across various senatorial districts in Benue State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Hon. Aondona expressed deep appreciation to all his supporters, describing their backing as overwhelming, and urged them to remain steadfast and committed to the ideals of the party.
