Makurdi Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Joseph Keffii, has strongly condemned a vicious gun attack on prominent youth leader Mr. Benjamin Aondowase Terver, describing the incident as barbaric, senseless, and completely unacceptable.

The assault took place on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Mr. Terver’s residence in the Wuruukum area of Makurdi, where the victim sustained gunshot wounds to his hand and leg. The meeting had been called in response to the killing of three young men by suspected cultists just two days earlier, on January 7, 2026, an event that has heightened tension and fear in the community.

In a statement issued through his Special Adviser on Security and Political Matters, Hon. Beetseeh Terhide Mark, Chairman Keffii expressed deep concern over the escalating wave of cult-related violence in Makurdi Local Government Area. He described the latest attack as part of a disturbing and dangerous trend that threatens the peace and security of the entire locality.
