Senator Suswam Debunks Defection Rumors Amid Invitation Controversy

Former Benue State Governor and current Senator Gabriel Torwua Suswam has dismissed circulating rumors of his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as “false and misleading,” according to a statement released by his media aide, Bede Bartholomew. The statement, issued on Friday, addresses misinformation stemming from a recent invitation extended to Suswam by Governor Hyacinth Alia to attend a State Banquet scheduled for October 10, 2025.

Bartholomew clarified that the invitation was a formal one directed at key stakeholders involved in the Benue project, and not a political event or decamping ceremony. “As a former governor, Senator Suswam remains a stakeholder in Benue’s development and accepted the invitation purely in that capacity,” the statement read.
