Eight out of nine suspected bandits have reportedly been arrested in Mbaijir, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to reports, seven of the suspects are Tiv, while one is from the Jukun ethnic group. The suspects allegedly arrived in the community with the intention of disrupting the peace, but this time, luck ran out on them as members of the community apprehended eight of them.
This development is a reminder that communities must remain vigilant and work together to protect lives and property. It is a serious reminder that insecurity remains a major threat to the peace, safety, and development of our communities.
It is time for us to stand up against insecurity and other challenges affecting Benue communities. We cannot continue to watch our people live in fear, lose their loved ones, abandon their homes, and struggle to carry out their daily activities.
We call on the Benue State Government, security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, and all well-meaning citizens to intensify efforts toward protecting lives and property, strengthening intelligence gathering, and ensuring that those responsible for criminal activities are brought to justice.
At the same time, we must avoid ethnic profiling, hate speech, and the spread of unverified information. Criminality should be treated as an individual responsibility, not attributed to an entire ethnic group.
Our demand is simple: We want peace, security, justice, and protection for every community in Benue State. Benue people deserve to sleep with both eyes closed. Our communities deserve peace, our farmers deserve access to their farms, and our children deserve a future free from fear.
The time to act is now. Silence is not an option when the safety of our people is at stake.
Big thanks to our very brothers **Aondongu Peter Suleagbough**, **Zege’Orkwande Sughnen Yaaya** as they sold their life fighting insecurities for the betterment of all BENUÉ STATE INDIGENS.
