Benue Assembly Suspends Kwande LG Chairman Hon. Vitalis Terhile Neji for Three Months

The Benue State House of Assembly has approved the suspension of the Executive Chairman of Kwande Local Government Council, Hon. Vitalis Terhile Neji, for a period of three months.

The decision was taken during the House’s afternoon session on Wednesday, which was presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Berger Alfred Emberga. The lawmakers adopted the reports of the ad-hoc committee and endorsed the suspension pending a proper investigation into a petition brought against the chairman.

Hon. Neji has been directed to hand over the affairs of the council to the Deputy Chairman of Kwande Local Government Council, who will serve as Caretaker Chairman during the period of suspension.

The development was confirmed in a press release issued by Zape Michael Upaa, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, dated 20th August, 2026.
