Security agencies have continued coordinated operations across several troubled communities in Benue State as part of efforts to restore peace, prevent further attacks, and protect residents.
The operations are focused on communities identified as security flashpoints following recent attacks that claimed lives and displaced many residents. Security personnel have increased patrols, conducted clearance operations, and strengthened surveillance in vulnerable areas to prevent renewed violence.
According to police authorities, the ongoing operation targets armed criminal groups, kidnappers, bandits, and other violent elements believed to be responsible for the insecurity affecting parts of the state. Security commanders have appealed to residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that can assist ongoing operations.
Governor Hyacinth Alia has reaffirmed the Benue State Government’s commitment to supporting security agencies through the provision of logistics, operational equipment, and other resources needed to improve security across the state. He also reiterated his support for stronger community-based security measures to safeguard lives and property.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, recently described the security situation in Benue as unacceptable and announced intensified operations in several flashpoint communities. He assured residents that security agencies would sustain the offensive until criminal elements are driven out and normalcy is restored.
Authorities have urged residents to remain calm, stay vigilant, and report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security agency as efforts to restore lasting peace continue.
