Joy Aondokaa’s mother has been arrested again by the Benue State Police Command, Makurdi Kornyi Division, over fresh allegations of involvement in human trafficking.
According to a social media report, the woman was previously arrested last year for allegedly conspiring in the trafficking of five Benue girls to Libya for sexual exploitation. At the time, her daughter Joy apologised to the people of Benue, facilitated the return of the victims, and was forgiven.
Fresh claims now allege that Joy trafficked seven Benue girls to Libya. One of the girls reportedly died, while two others escaped from a prostitution camp and contacted the reporter, who said he moved them to a safer location. The escapees allegedly stated that Joy’s mother provided them with money to travel from Benue to Kano and onward through the desert to Libya. The report further claimed that the girls were sold for two million naira each.
The matter has been brought to the attention of the Benue State Government and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
