The Benue State Facts Findings Committee has strongly condemned what it describes as repeated attacks on Barrister Terhemen Ngbea, the State Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State.
According to a statement issued by the committee’s Chairman, Comr. Asortar James Asortar, Barrister Ngbea was recently attacked while returning from an official assignment at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja. The incident occurred along the Nasarawa Eggon axis as he travelled back to Makurdi. He is currently receiving medical treatment, and the committee has wished him a speedy recovery.
This is not the first time the legal adviser has been targeted. In April 2025, he was attacked in Abuja by hoodlums who vandalized his vehicle and carted away his laptop, valuable party documents, ATM cards, cash, and other personal belongings. The committee noted that the earlier attack happened while Ngbea was actively defending the APC in election-related legal matters.
The Benue State Facts Findings Committee described the latest incident as part of a disturbing and dangerous pattern aimed at intimidating committed party officials defending the mandate and interests of the APC and the administration of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia.
In the statement, the committee called on all security agencies to launch a thorough investigation into the repeated attacks and ensure that everyone connected to these criminal acts is identified and brought to justice. It emphasized that the safety of public officials and party leaders must not be compromised.
The committee urged APC members, supporters, and the good people of Benue State to remain calm, vigilant, and united behind Governor Alia’s administration. It warned that no campaign of intimidation, blackmail, violence, or political sabotage would stop the ongoing transformation of the state.
The statement further asserted that those fighting against the collective progress of the people always fail, and that every gathering against peace, development, and prosperity in Benue State shall be scattered while the will of the people and the mandate entrusted to Governor Alia continues to prevail.
The development comes at a politically sensitive time, shortly after the APC concluded its primaries and is responding to various petitions and legal challenges. The committee believes these attacks are calculated attempts by enemies of progress to weaken those defending the party and the state government.
As investigations are expected to commence, many in Benue are watching closely to see how security agencies respond to the safety concerns surrounding key political figures in the state.
