The Executive Chairman of Guma Local Government Council, Hon. Maurice Orwough, on Thursday visited families affected by the recent herdsmen attack on Abavshwa community in Ndzorov Council Ward. He also proceeded to General Hospital Gbajimba to see the injured victims, assess the extent of their injuries and offer words of encouragement.
The Chairman prayed for the quick recovery of the wounded and expressed sympathy to the families of those who lost their loved ones in the attack. He condemned the incident, describing it as unfortunate and unacceptable, while praying for the peaceful repose of the deceased. Orwough assured residents that every effort is being made to restore peace and ensure the safety of all people in Guma Local Government Area.
During the visit, Hon. Orwough met with the Acting District Head of Ndzorov and the five kindred heads to discuss the security situation in the area. He assured them that the council remains committed to protecting lives and property and will continue to work closely with the Benue State Government and security agencies to improve security. He noted that security personnel have already been deployed to the affected community to maintain peace and prevent further attacks.
The Chairman urged residents to remain vigilant, support the security agencies and report any suspicious movement or activity to the appropriate authorities. He was accompanied on the visit by the Councillor representing Ndzorov, Hon. Aaron Isherev, Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture Hon. Joe Dugh, and other officials.
