Benue SUBEB Unveils Project BRACE-UP Plan and Flags Off Distribution of Learning Materials to Schools

Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), in collaboration with UNICEF and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), has taken another bold step in the drive to improve basic education with the unveiling of the Project BRACE-UP (Building Rights to Access and Compulsory Education for Un-enrolled Pupils) Implementation Plan (2026–2028). The event also featured the flag-off of the distribution of school-in-a-box kits and sporting equipment to public schools across Benue State.

With the generous support of UNICEF, 400 School-in-a-Box Kits were distributed. These kits will provide essential teaching and learning materials to over 16,000 learners. The UNICEF-sponsored Project BRACE-UP Implementation Plan, described as an eight-pillar strategic roadmap, was also unveiled to tackle the challenge of out-of-school children in Benue. In addition, SUBEB and UBEC powered the distribution of sporting equipment to 124 public schools to promote physical fitness and holistic child development.

The Executive Chairman of Benue SUBEB, Grace Adagba, expressed sincere appreciation to His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, for his gracious support for education, and to the Deputy Governor, Barr. Dr. Sam Ode (MNI), for performing the official flag-off. She also thanked valued partners UNICEF and UBEC for their dependable support.

Together, the stakeholders are working to ensure that every Benue child has greater opportunities to learn, grow and succeed regardless of background.
